The Canada Research Chairs program secretariat is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Canada Excellence Research Chairs program.

The secretariat reports to the following steering committee, which is responsible for providing strategic direction to the program.

Carefully selected international experts assess Phase 1 applications and Phase 2 nominations. Their evaluations are reviewed by a prestigious arms-length selection board, comprised of world-renowned experts from varying fields. The selection board makes recommendations to the steering committee, which makes the final decisions on Phase 1 applications and Phase 2 nominations.
