World Water Day puts our most vital resource at the top of the agenda

World Water Day is held annually as a means of focusing attention on the importance of fresh water and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

On March 22 each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of fresh water. Reflecting the International Year of Water Cooperation, World Water Day 2015 is dedicated to the theme of “cooperation around water.”

One of Canada’s most vocal advocates for water security is Howard Wheater, Canada Excellence Research Chair in Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan.

In this short video, Wheater explains how the Global Institute for Water Security is developing the tools and research necessary to help protect the planet’s most precious natural resource.
