Canada Excellence Research Chair in
Sustainable Freshwater Resources:
Ecotoxicohydrology
Fresh water is probably the world's most vital resource. It is both a life source and essential for economic prosperity. However, decreasing water availability and increasing pollution threaten to pit development against ecosystem conservation and human well-being. Many argue that Canada and the rest of the world are in the midst of an escalating water crisis that we must address. This Chair would lead an exemplary team of researchers into a new interdisciplinary field integrating water-quantity and water-quality assessment for sustainable management of our freshwater resources in the face of looming environmental change. These efforts would strategically position Canada to help ensure the security of the world's water supply.
