
Richard Dicerni is known for his distinguished career in the Canadian public sector, including his current position as deputy minister of Industry Canada, a role he assumed in May 2006. Prior to this, he worked as a partner at Mercer Delta Canada and then held several positions at the Ontario Power Generation, first as senior vice-president of corporate and environmental affairs, then as executive vice-president and corporate secretary, and lastly as acting president and CEO.
Dicerni is a former president and CEO of the Canadian Newspaper Association. He also held several senior positions at the Government of Ontario, serving as deputy minister of Education and Training, deputy minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, and deputy minister of Environment and Energy.
As well as holding various executive positions within the federal public service, Dicerni was deputy secretary for the Federal-Provincial Relations Office, senior assistant deputy minister of Health and Welfare Canada, assistant deputy minister, Corporate Policy, and assistant deputy minister, Citizenship.
Dicerni holds a BA from Université de Montréal, and a Masters of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
